The Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents, (“the Apostille Convention”) is an international treaty drafted by the Hague Conference on Private International Law. The Apostille Convention specifies the requirements through which a document issued in one of the signatory countries (South Africa being one of them) can be certified for legal purposes and used in all other signatory countries. The certification is called an apostille. The apostille does not give information on the content of the underlying document, rather it certifies the signature, capacity of the signatory and correctness of the seal or stamp on the document. The apostille is done in Pretoria at the Department of Foreign Affairs by EasyApostille on behalf of applicants.
Submission fees vary depending on the Embassy / Consulate. Embassy / Consulate turnaround times to process the documentation also vary. Once your instruction is received and the Embassy / Consulate is confirmed, we will advise on the submission fees and time to finalise the documents.
Drop documents at the EasyApostille office in Sandton, arrange for collection and delivery in Johannesburg or courier the documents from anywhere in the world. Select your pricing option and we will submit the documentation for the apostille and arrange to get the documents and certifications back to you.
Select one of three options dependent on your budget or the urgency of the application.
You will be directed to a form where you can complete all of your details
